STILL SPINNING MY WHEELS..

No new stuff to show so here is some more stuff from my sketchbook. I have been thinking about doing another webcomic and this was some sort of spitballing page.

MORE MINI-MOLE SKETCH STUFF

I've been way too busy to do much drawing. ARRRGGH!!! Excuses, excuses. Here is some stuff from the mini-mole.

FRANK MILLER'S BATMAN SAVES THE COMIC BOOK INDUSTRY WITH KIRKMAN-BENDIS CHUCKS

So Chris Sims over at the Invincible Super Blog has started a meme for a drawing of Batman with nunchucks made out of stuff that nunchucks are not normally made.

So anyway this is my version.

NEW MOLESKINE

After finishing the last Moleskine sketchbook I thought I would try one of the smaller size ones. This one is designed to be small enough to fit in a back pocket. I thought that would help me make sure to carry it around. The reality is that it is still too cumbersome to have in your pocket. I don't really like the size to sketch with either. I thought it would not be a big deal but there is only some much you can fit on a page of this sucker.

Anyway, did some babysitting last night so no Southern Exposure updates to speak of.

TEN DOWN 90 OR SO TO GO....

I finished page 10 over the weekend. A far cry from the 14 I had as a goal. Oh well at least it is something.

At some point I plan on actually posting some more images and stuff but I can't seem to get everything in line.

Soonish.

ROLLING ON-PAGE 8

I penciled and inked page 8 last night. I am way off target for the week but at least it is something. I have also decided to go with computer lettering but hand drawing the balloons. I wish I could go all hand drawn but my lettering is way too messy.

CRAP IN A HAT

I have felt bad all week. I also sprained my heel (if that is even possible) while running yesterday.

Those are the excuses I am going with for not doing squat so far this week.

It was easy making that page a day committment while on vacation. I am now three pages behind the eight ball.

And life goes on.

PAGE FIVE

This is the last page that I had done in some form or fashion.

I have already started on the latest version. I am again using the much smaller paper. That may change at some point but it would flow smoother if I can stick it out at the smaller size. It will affect the quality and detail but on the plus side it should make the process go quicker.

PAGE FOUR

I envision the book as basically three main chapters of roughly 30 pages each. I plan on ending each chapter with a flashback sequence done in some other style. The flashbacks will be around 2-4 pages each. Then a final two page wrap up to end the book which should bring the project in at a respectable 100 plus pages.

My goal is to have it done by the first of the year. Wow, I can't believe I typed that without laughing.

PAGE THREE

In the grand scheme of things this is a personal story. A few of the events are true but most of it is fiction. I have loosely based most of the characters on someone I know but really they are all me when you boil it down.

I have no plans on trying to get this published I just need to get it done. I will probably use a POD printer to make a few copies to give to friends but that is it.

That is why I might color it. The difference in a color POD book and a b&w book are astronomical, but since I don't plan on making any money off of it the cost is irrelevant.

PAGE TWO

Here is page two of the unnamed project that will soon be redrawn in some fashion or other.

This time out I plan on hand lettering the book. I don't like my lettering but I like the look and spirit of a hand lettered book better. With the page shown here I hand drew the balloons and then used a computer font.

I may still use the computer to add greyscale or maybe even color.

Of the pages I am redoing, this is my favorite. It used to be the first page but I wanted to open on the sign of the town and show Pills picking up Monk....and yes that is their names.

ONE MORE TIME UNTO THE VOID

I cannot count how many times I have started and abandoned my OGN project. I have changed the name at least three times and I know I have drawn the first page at least four times. I guess make that four because I am starting it up again.

The image here is my last crack at page one. I like it fair enough but I have diddled with the character designs since then. They are now more cartoony if that is possible. The thing I always say is once you start drawing a dude on page one, he needs to look the same on page 101.

So the bottom line is that I am starting again on this project. I plan on posting the five pages I have done here over the next few days just to do something with them.

SITTING ON MY IMAGINATION

I had a great weekend. A long weekend, but I didn't art any. At all. Zero. Zilch.

I blame it on the PSP. I gotta get rid of that thing.

On the plus side I took the Blue Raiders to the Sugar Bowl.
